Haleh Shams, O.D.

Photo of Dr. Shams.Dr. Shams is a Board Certified Optometric Physician, and she has proudly served the local community for over twenty years.

She began her optometry career in the Villages and has since practiced in multiple modalities including primary care optometry, contact lens, ocular disease, pediatrics, VA hospital, and refractive surgery. She is involved in volunteer work both locally and internationally. More than anything Dr Shams enjoys caring for her patients, helping them reach their visual needs and goals.

She attended high school in a small town in central Sweden called Gävle. Her family relocated to Florida and she began her studies at Seminole Community College, thereafter University of Central Florida, with a major in Biology and minor in Psychology. She attended Nova Southeastern University where she earned her Doctor of Optometry degree. During her time as a student, and after graduation, she remained an active member of SVOSH (Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity) traveling to underserved areas in need of eye care.

When she is not at the office seeing patients, Dr. Shams spends her free time with her husband and their two children. She is always reading a book, enjoys spending time with friends and family and long walks in nature.
